    Space Weather CD ROM

This space weather CD Rom will take you on a journey through the complex and ever changing relationship between the Sun, the Earth and cosmic rays from stars. You will travel through interplanetary space and follow the processes that cause space weather effects such as the beautiful aurora. You will also learn about the hidden sides of space weather: how it can cause satellite failures, interrupt mobile phone communications and TV signals, cause radiation risks for airline passengers and even cause power outages here on Earth.

In the CD Rom you will find:

    • a description of the physical processes that cause space weather effects,
    • the influences these processes can have,
    • the history of space weather observations,
    • current and future observing techniques,
    • future worldwide plans to enable us to manage these,
    • natural phenomena and cope with potential hazards and
    • further outreach material
